SEATTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

  1. i think this is an excellect comparison -- it enables ou to find specific strategies for defineing a monolithic agenda (perforamce cultural center) with flexible and multiplicitous realities.
i think however there are two problems
    1) its way too dense. it needs to be much more simple and compact as a narrative and as an idea -- at least diagrammaically.
it takes on way too much.
    2) consider that the diagram you have identifying the flow chart is linear and potentially (and problematically) top-down. lets think of the logic of the diagram and see if you can't generatte something with a bit more clarity and a bit more complexity.
keep in mind that koolhaas diagram functions as an example of defrag for hardware -- things are inefficiently parsed out over a great space. his final diagram negotiates that feature as one of an interesting network, an emergent set of social and programmattic possibilities, while also clarifying the overall or global nature of the space as still the "library"
