THESE STUDIES SHOW AN AGGREGATED BRANCHING MODULE REPRESENTING A CIRCULATION/INFRASTRUCTURAL SYSTEM AROUND WHICH THE TRADE SHOW SPACES CAN EMERGE. THE AGGREGATION SYSTEMS THEN CONNECT OTHER PROGRAMS SUCH AS HOTEL, RETAIL, CONCERT SPACE, ETC. VERTICALLY. TRANSITIONAL SPACES ARE ALLOWED TO EMERGE BETWEEN THE TRADE SHOW SPACES AND OTHER PROGRAMS, PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR NEW PROGRAMS THAT MAY NOT BE PREDICTABLE.

hey, ok, i like the development, but the unityis a problem right now since it is a block but looks like an affro in aggregate form. What kind of unit is this going to be?
ReplyDeleteKyle, I like the amount of experimentation that I see with the aggregation types, however, I think the tower diagram is a bit confusing. I think that you found some very interesting qualities in the aggregates but I don’t think they should be sandwiched between more generic blocks of space. There was a suggestion of a more continuous intertwining of architectural and programmatic elements of your earlier diagrams that I found to be a bit more provocative than the layer cake strategy. I have to admit though that may just be that I am turned off by the emptiness of the hotel space. What is it like to be in the trade show space? Is there space there? I would love to see it? I think the relationship between the more massive and intricate forms could be quite compelling, but this should to be developed with the design of architectural elements rather than diagrammatic massing. I think the left most tower diagram is more of the right scale for the aggregation and I kind of see the mass as more of a connected element that supports and feeds the trades show spaces.
